If You Can’t Ban It, Tax It: Legislation Proposes 20% Handgun and 50% Ammo Tax

Well, if you can’t ban it, tax it: Democratic legislation proposes 20% handgun and 50% ammo tax. The Democrats just love your money!

At least then the Democrats can get control of your guns as an added benefit while at the same time make millions of dollars in the process. That seems to be the Democrat strategy now with regard to guns New Jersey Democrat Representative Bill Pascrell has co-sponsored legislation that aims to increase the handgun tax to 20% and the ammo tax to 50%. The Democrats just love to spend YOUR money like it was there money! Oh wait, didn’t the guy from Missouri say YOUR money belonged to the government?

Under the Gun Violence Prevention and Safe Communities Act, the excise tax on guns would double to 20 % and for ammunition, Pascrell is pushing for an increase from 11 % to 50 %.

The bill is misnamed the Gun Violence Prevention and Safe Communities Act. As if a higher tax on firearms and ammo is going to somehow curb violence committed with guns. All it will do is make it more costly and difficult for citizens to buy guns and ammo, which will only put them at more risk of being someone’s victim. Will the government then be responsible for the deaths? I think not. Thus, I suggest buying as much ammunition for your guns now!

Pascrell excused to increase the tax on handguns was that the tax was last increased in 1955. Worse yet, the tax rate on ammunition and other types of firearms has remained the same since 1941. Thus, Pascrell, as a “good” Democratic, found something that had not been taxed enough recently. After all, Pascrell does not think it is fair that gun owners have paid the same “low” tax rate on handguns and ammo for decades now.
